Brownfield redevelopment on old power station site.Salmon Developments had purchased this old power station site and inherited all the associated problems, such as contamination, significant obstructions, land reclamation, diversion of waterways, etc.
pta were commissioned to act as Civil & Structural engineers on Salmon’s behalf on all the projects over the whole site, which involved a building for Orbit Flight Training Limited (housing flight simulators), British Airways (housing research and maintenance equipment and data), and Volvo. pta are currently carrying out designs for further plots on the site for other tenants.
pta also designed the entire infrastructure incorporating road bridges, diversion of waterways, roads and, in conjunction with ENSR, completed remediation action for in-situ construction.
This project is ongoing as more plots are released for future tenants and future redevelopment. The initial cost plans and budges involved piling yet pta arrived at design solutions without piling.
