The Kew Bridge Road development is located on the site of a former Thames Water reservoir and consists of 9 residential blocks of between 6 and 16 storeys over a single-storey basement car park.  The buildings utilise RC blade columns concealed within the party walls, supporting 250 thick RC slabs which were economically designed to a reinforcement rate of less than 30kg/m².

A 3m diameter Thames Water ring main runs beneath a number of the blocks, and proposals at planning stage had been for a deep transfer structure at ground floor level to span the 23m exclusion zone; however, PTA were able to make savings by locating pilecaps with restricted length piles directly above the crown of the exclusion zone and coordinating a ground movement analysis to satisfy Thames Water.

Savings were also made by re-using much of the bulk excavation material for backfilling behind the basement retaining walls, through the use of a strict testing and compaction regime.  PTA were also able to design out a 1155m³ box culvert that had been introduced at planning stage.
